Twentieth Century Fox has acquired the film rights to BOOM! Studios 37-issue series Irredeemable, by writer Mark Waid and artist Peter Krause.

Irredeemable centered on Plutonian who was once the world’s greatest superhero. He eventually snapped, took control of the Earth, and ruled it with an iron and bloody fist. Plutonian’s former super team called the Paradigm is the only force remaining willing to put a stop to his madness. In their desperation, the Paradigm turns to one of the world’s most notorious villains for help.

Tommy Wirkola (Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters) is set to write the film, with Adam McKay (Ant-Man) set to direct.

BOOM! Studios’ Ross Richie and Stephen Christy will produce the film alongside McKay, Gary Sanchez, and Kevin Messick.
