Stephen Lang Wants To Play Cable In The Deadpool Sequel

With a sequel for Deadpool already confirmed by 20th Century Fox, the creative team are most likely currently planing whats next for the Merc With a Mouth and which charters will be joining him in his next big film outing. One character that we know for sure will be in the next one is Cable and it looks like someone is already campaigning to play him.

stephenlangcable-169807Stephen LangAvatar and Terra Nova, has apparently been a fan favorite for playing the time-traveling leader of X-Force for years. Lang’s feelings on the subject seems mutual since he just recently tweeted a picture of himself training at a gym accompanied with “Let’s lay some CABLE. You know I want it. This is pre-training. Thanks for spreading the word. #Deadpool”

While it is still way too early to tell if Cable will actually be in Deadpool 2 (even though the after credits scene said he will be), Lang does seem like a good choice for the character especially since the filmmakers did create Deadpool for the fans and made the characters pretty accurate to their comic book counterparts like Colossus. When the time for casting comes, it will all have to really boil down to the choice of candidates for the role, the budget, the availability of the actor for filming, chemistry compatibility, and any input from 20th Century Fox.

Cable could also possibly appear in other X-Men films as well like X-Force. X-Force has been in development for years but recently Ryan Reynolds and Deadpool screenwriters Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese have been campaigning for the film’s creation and also consider it to be on their list of priorities. Now that Deadpool has broken records on its opening weekend, maybe this will push Fox to consider making more R rated X-Men films and get them to finally green light the X-Force Movie.
