ANAD_Avengers_9_Alex_RossWith Free Comic Book Day only a few months away, we’re starting to see what titles will be available for the event. One of these new titles will feature the highly anticipated debut of the All-New Wasp who we now have a better look at thanks to one of the covers.

The newly released Alex Ross cover for May’s All-New All-Different Avengers #9 by Mark Waid and Mahmud Asrar, gives us our first official look at the All-New Wasp along with a solicitation that reads:

“New Story Starts NOW! Introducing the all-new Wasp! Who is she? What is she? And what does she intend to do about Earth’s Mightiest Heroes?”

No other details about the All-New Wasp have been disclosed yet, but so far the design of the costume looks almost like a hybrid between the Wasp costume from the Ant-Man movie and the costume worn by the MC2 Universe character Red Queen.

The MC2 was an alternate future where the children of several famous Marvel characters took up mantle of heroes for this universe. Instead of becoming a hero like so many others, Hope Pym the daughter of Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, became a supervillain named Red Queen who saw the other heroes as a disgrace to the legacy of their parents. This character was used as inspiration for Evangeline Lilly’s character Hope Van Dyne, in Marvel’s Ant-Man.

As for who will be under the mask of this new Wasp , it could be anyone from either Janet Van Dyne the original Wasp, Hope Pym from the MC2, a new Hope Van Dyne character influenced by Evangeline Lilly, Scott Lang’s daughter Cassie Lang, or a completely new character who hasn’t even been introduced in the comics yet.
